Commercial door locks are rated to a different performance standard than residential hardware, and choosing the right grade for your application determines how long the hardware lasts and whether it meets code. Doorware.com carries commercial door levers, commercial door knobs, and commercial deadbolts across all three ANSI/BHMA grades. Grade 1 is the benchmark for high-traffic institutional and commercial environments, tested to 1 million operational cycles and resistance to 10 strikes of 75 pounds of force, making it the correct specification for schools, healthcare facilities, government buildings, and any exterior or high-security opening. Grade 2 covers moderate-traffic interior applications, and Grade 3 suits lighter duty residential and low-traffic commercial use. For the highest security applications, we also carry UL listed locksets independently tested and certified to resist forcing, drilling, sawing, prying, picking, and bumping. Not sure which grade fits your project? Our Deadbolt Selection Guide walks through the decision. One important note on ADA compliance: door levers meet ADA operability requirements and are the correct choice for any opening subject to accessibility codes. Door knobs do not meet ADA standards and should not be specified for those applications.
