Magnetic door stops hold a door open until you're ready to close it — no more doors slamming shut from drafts or wind. They're popular on bedroom and bathroom doors where you want the door to stay open when the room isn't in use. This guide covers every magnetic door stop model we carry and helps you choose the right one.

Important: Magnetic door stops are not recommended for doors with door closers. A door closer applies a minimum of 3 ft-lbs of closing force — most apply over 5 ft-lbs — which will overpower a magnetic stop. For doors with closers, see our Hold Open Door Stops guide.

Most Popular

Deltana MDH30 & MDH35 — floor, wall, or baseboard mount

The two most versatile and popular magnetic door stop models. Both can be mounted vertically to the floor, or horizontally on the wall, baseboard, or door — just like a standard baseboard door stop.

The Receptor contains a spring-loaded cushion to absorb impact shocks. The Base has a permanent magnet to hold the door open. Both function as door stops and door holders. Available in 9 finish colors.

Deltana MDH30

3" — standard duty. Most popular for residential doors.

Deltana MDH35

3½" — heavy duty. For heavier or wider doors.

Floor Mount

Deltana dome style magnetic door stops

Dome style magnetic door stops are floor mounted — the stop screws to the floor and the door contacts it when opened. The permanent magnet is spring-loaded to absorb shocks, so they function as both door stops and door holders.

Deltana DSM125

Solid brass. Available in 9 finish choices to match any décor.

Deltana DSM125U32x

Stainless steel. Available in polished or satin finish.

Low Profile

Deltana MDHF25 — flush floor mount

The Deltana MDHF25 is the ideal choice when you need a very low profile floor-mounted stop — to reduce tripping risk, make floor cleaning easier, or simply for its sleek modern look.

The round strike plate (2-3/8" diameter) mounts flush to the floor. The magnet screws to the bottom of the door. When the magnet approaches the strike plate, a spring-loaded arm raises up to stop and hold the door open — then retracts flush when the door is closed.

The spring-loaded arm raises to catch the door and retracts flush when released
