A parliament hinge is a butt hinge where the knuckle protrudes from the door so that the door when fully opened stands away from the wall. Designed for doors that need to swing 180° and clear a projection such as a decorative molding around the door frame. It is often used on windows and shutters because this type of hinge allow them to swing past deep trim work. A solid brass hinge, it is available in 8 finishes.
