How to Order a Lockset

Please read carefully to facilitate proper ordering. Of course, if you need further clarification regarding handing, backset or anything else regarding "How to Order," please give us a call at 813-996-4797.

Handing:

Most lever sets require you to determine whether the door is a Right-Hand or Left-Hand door (knobs do not require handing).

Inside (room or house)

Outside (room or house)

  • Simply stand outside the room or house facing the door.
(It does not matter if the door swings in or out.)
  • If the hinge is on the right, it is a Right-Hand door lever.
  • If the hinge is on the left, it is a Left-Hand door lever.
  • A note about Handlesets: Even though the lever is on the inside of the house, you still stand outside of the house to determine handing.

Single Cylinder and Double Cylinder Deadbolt:
What's the difference?

A single cylinder deadbolt is keyed on the outside and has a turn lever on the inside to lock and unlock it. A double cylinder deadbolt is keyed on both sides. A key is necessary to lock and unlock it on the inside. A double cylinder deadbolt offers an increased level of security in the event you have, for instance, glass sidelites that an intruder could break, reach through and unlock your door by turning the lever for a single cylinder deadbolt. However, if you choose a double cylinder deadbolt and keep your door locked, you will need to keep the key in the lock, or readily accessible, in the event of fire or other emergency that would require quick exit. When you leave your home, you could simply remove the key, out of reach of an intruder. Please call us if you need assistance choosing the deadbolt function.

Keying

If you would like to be able to use the same key for the keyed locks you order, click the "Keyed Alike" on every lock you order. To have all you're locks with a different key for each set, click "keyed different". For passage, privacy and dummy sets click "non-keyed".

Door Thickness

All door hardware fits doors between 1 3/8" to 1 3/4" thick. If your door is thicker, you will need to specify its thickness. Please specify door thickness in the "Additional Comments" area. You will see "Additional Comments" during the check-out process, located at the bottom of the page after "Payment Information." Of course, you may use "Additional Comments" for anything else regarding your order that we need to know.

Please Note for Handlesets: If you have double doors and want matching hardware on both doors, you need to order a single or double cylinder handleset for your active door and a dummy handleset for your inactive door.
